Several writers shed light on the importance of developing Sinai in the light of President Al-Sisi's call on the people to contribute to Sinai's rebuilding by donating to the fund Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt). The editorial of the daily Al-Ahram said that when the president says he trusts the armed forces' ability to protect the country from terrorism, he is also confident that the army is capable of advancing Sinai. Which is why, the edit added, he called on all Egyptians including businessmen to donate to Tahya Misr which can finance the development process in Sinai. “The best way to talk about development is to provide figures. The comprehensive development of Sinai started in 2014 and will last until 2022 at a cost of LE275 billion. Collecting that vast amount of money requires the cooperation of all Egyptians,” it said. The army and police, the edit explained, are responsible for the military and security side, a huge effort that depletes the state's budget. Thus, citizens should contribute in supporting the war in Sinai as well as taking part in improving it. Suleiman Gouda called on all who are capable of responding to the president's call to rebuild Sinai by contributing to Tayha Misr. The call, Gouda wrote, presents the social role of the capital at its best. The fund has achieved in various important files in the past what could not have been accomplished without it. “If treating Virus C was the only achievement of the fund, that's more than enough,” he wrote in the daily Al-Masry Al-Youm. However, Gouda called on the fund to issue regular monthly reports about its activities and how the money is being spent in order to enhance the confidence of its present contributors and to attract more donors. Emadeddin Adib expressed his wish that Egypt's population of 104 million would have accompanied the president on his recent visit to Sinai. “My morale reached sky-high when I saw the armed forces in their fourth war to liberate Sinai,” Adib wrote in the daily Al-Watan. The accompanying delegation knew from the president, Adib added, that we need to invest some LE270 billion in the next four years in Sinai and make it an international centre for tourism and development. The writer questioned those who claimed the regime was ready to invest LE270 billion while at the same time conspiring with the US and Israel to give away that land in the so-called deal of the century. Adib also wondered about those who asked how an army that fights a war against terrorism in Sinai with more than 54,000 people gives away the land they are fighting for.
