Ghaly regains his role as Ahly captain Ahly's striker Emad Metaab was named as Ahly's skipper in succession of Ghaly but the veteran midfielder remained the team's leader despite losing the captaincy arm-band
Ahly's president Mahmoud Taher decided on Monday to give back the captaincy arm-band to the team's veteran midfielder Hossam Ghaly, the Cairo giants announced on their official website. Ghaly was dumped as Ahly's skipper after he lost his temper and kicked the captain's armband to the ground after being sent off in an Egyptian Premier League game in May. The 34-year-old received his marching orders with 12 minutes remaining in Ahly's 1-0 defeat by Haras El-Hodoud, having picked up two yellow cards in quick succession for furiously protesting against a refereeing decision. Ahly's striker Emad Metaab was named as Ahly's skipper in succession of Ghaly but the veteran midfielder remained the team's leader despite losing the captaincy arm-band. After winning the Egyptian Super Cup last month, Metaab refused to lift the trophy alone calling on the veteran midfielder to assist him.
