CAIRO: Korean Ambassador to Egypt Yun Jong Kon has honored the sixth round winners of the Conversation in Korean competition, held at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Alsun Conference Hall. In his speech, the ambassador spoke of Egypt and Korea's success in establishing bilateral relations in political, cultural and economical fields. He said the competition's aim was not only for promoting studying Korean in Egypt, but also introducing Korean culture to Egyptians, including Taekwondo shows and Korean songs, which assert the depth of the cultural exchange between both countries. The ambassador said he hopes the Korean department graduates will play a role in supporting the cultural exchanges between the people of both countries. The Korean department was opened in 2005, the only department teaching Korean in the Arab region at the time, witnessing continuous progress until the inauguration of a post graduate section in 2009. The Korean embassy is keen on organizing the competition annually, aiming to support Korean study, as well as encouraging the cultural exchange between both countries. Nine students from the Korean department took part in the competition, which aims to evaluate students' abilities in conversing, as well as supporting their knowledge of Korean culture. Six of the students won and were given certificates and memorial prizes.
