CAIRO: The High Electoral Committee assured owners of expired national ID numbers have the right to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Egypt starting on November 28. The committee called on all citizens with expired national ID numbers to renew them. The committee mentioned registered names in the voters database of 2011 stopped since July 20, 2011, but the database was presented in the duration between August 20, 2011 to August 31, 2011. It also assured each citizen has the right to demand to register their name or correcting their personal information as long as they didn't illegally register their name in the voters' database. The deadline of submitting appeals was September 15, according to article no. 5 of the law of monitoring political rights, the committee mentioned. It was said appeals and complaints submitted by site users are reconsidered as prelude to prepare the final voters' database. In response to the questions of the citizens concerning the presence of national ID numbers of deceased citizens in the voters' database, the committee said the voting process will not be accomplished unless the head of the judiciary committee confirm the identity of voters by double checking the national ID number. The committee assured the voting process will take place in the electoral committees, which exist in each constituent. The voters will determine the constituent and the sub-committee they belong to according to their address. The committee stressed it is not right for any citizen to vote in another constituent or outside the sub-committee which they belongs to according to their national ID.
