CAIRO: Egyptians living abroad will be allowed to vote in upcoming parliamentary elections with their national ID cards rather than their passports. The decision came from the committee dealing with the right of expats to vote in upcoming People's Assembly elections, slated to begin November 28. Prime Minister Essam Sharaf chairs the committee. Voting registration will be open for one week beginning November 10. Egyptians can register on the High Electoral Committee's official website, www.Elections2011.eg. Egyptians who were issued identification numbers prior to September 27, 2011 will be eligible to vote. This date was the deadline for registration in the voters' database for parliamentary elections. Those who were issued identification numbers after September 27 will be allowed to vote in other upcoming elections.
