WASHINGTON D.C.: Egyptian civil affairs committee for issuing voting ID cards finished its mission in Washington after spending three days in the Egyptian embassy in Washington D.C. The committee issued 500 ID cards for Egyptians in the states of Virginia, Merryland, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina and Florida. The embassy facilitated procedures to receive voting IDs by accepting any official documents proving their right to issue an Egyptian IDS. The committee also extended work hours in the Egyptian embassy until 8:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. on the last day. Many Egyptians in the U.S. applied to get voting IDs. Youth of 16 years of age are encouraged by their families to get their Egyptian voting IDs. Egyptian ambassador in Washington D.C. Sameh Shokry said this step assured the embassy is communicating with the Egyptian community abroad and presenting the best support for them.
