Eighteen members of Zamalek's White Knights ultras group were released by the military court of law on Thursday, following riots that marred a league game with Wadi Degla last month. The Zamalek contingent has been detained since the team's penultimate league game on July 7, where violence erupted at Cairo Stadium as arch-rivals Ahli secured the title. Ahli's 5-1 victory at Arab Contractors was coupled by a 1-1 home draw between Zamalek and Degla, with the home fans causing several damages to the stadium and injuring police officers during the riots. But the verdict to grant them a reprieve was announced on Thursday, one week after a trial took place at a military court. Zamalek striker Mido was keen to attend last week's trial in support of the fans in custody, urging authorities to release them.
