Oman goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi has joined Wigan on a one-year loan from Bolton. "We need competition in every department, and Ali will certainly do that," said Wigan manager Roberto Martinez. "He has a terrific attitude to the game and after four years in England knows all about the Premier League. "We are delighted to welcome him on board." Wigan needed to sign a cover for first-choice keeper Chris Kirkland after letting go Richard Kingson and Vladimir Stojkovic this summer. Al-Habsi has been with Bolton for four seasons but failed to break into the first team due to the good form of Jussi Jaaskelainen.
