Wigan Athletic suffered a third straight Premiership defeat after losing to close rivals Stoke City 2-0 on Saturday. Ricardo Fuller and James Beattie scored for the home side on 69 and 76 minutes to hand Stoke the three points. Wigan, who are without a win in seven games now, drop to 12th with 42 points, allowing the Potters to overtake 11th place on 45. Egypt striker Mido came on as a second-half substitute 18 minutes from time, but for the second week in a row, Wigan conceded shortly after his entrance. The Latics' top scorer Amr Zaki was ruled out of the game with a knee injury.
