Roma are looking to sign Bayern Munich forward Lukas Podolski after failing in their attempt to lure Adrian Mutu to Stadio Olimpico, Italian reports said. The Giallorossi's negotiations with Fiorentina to wrap up Mutu's deal were at an advanced stage but talks reached an impasse. According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have turned their attention to Podolski, who put in some impressive displays for Germany at EURO 2008 The 23-year-old has become a primary target for Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, who recently lost Brazilian winger Alessandro Mancini to rivals Inter Milan. Podolski repeatedly voiced his frustration at lack of first-team opportunities with German champions Bayern.
