Italian side Fiorentina have signed Juventus forward Adrian Mutu for an undisclosed fee, the Serie A club announced on their official website on Saturday. Fiorentina, who are facing trial over the match-fixing scandal that rocked Italy, did not also reveal the length of the contract. The Romanian will now link up again with coach Cesare Prandelli, following their spell with Parma in the 2002/2003 season. Mutu joined Juventus in January 2005 after he was sacked by English champions Chelsea for a positive drug test, but he couldn't play until May of the same year after serving a seven-month ban, imposed by the English Football Association (FA). Fiorentina finished the Serie A campaign in fourth place, enabling them to participate in the UEFA Champions League preliminary round only if they stayed in the first division next season as they risk demotion to Serie B if they were proven guilty.
