Tottenham Hotspur have been given a bye into the UEFA Cup round of 16 after their opponents Feyenoord were expelled from the competition, European governing body UEFA announced on Thursday. "Tottenham notified today by Uefa that they have been awarded automatic qualification for the tournament's Round of 16, where they will face the winners of the Round of 32 tie between SC Braga and Parma FC," UEFA said in a statement on their website. Feyenoord were initially fined $160,800 and handed a suspended sentence to play two matches behind closed doors following crowd trouble during a group stage match against French side Nancy. But UEFA then opted for a harsher punishment and decided to exclude the Dutch side from the competition. Feyenoord are expected to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport while Tottenham are considering demanding compensation for the loss of the match's income.
