CAIRO - The 15th edition of Cairo ICT, a key exhibition, opened Wednesday at Cairo International Conference Centre. This year, the event has a better display of technologies with a new hall that increases the exhibition's total space by 25 per cent. Serving vertical fields that range from health to oil and gas, from transport to tourism and real estate, Cairo ICT 2011 presents itself as the place where life shapes up in its modern application. The exhibition is hosting France as guest of honor. The French pavilion will be organised by the Mission économique-UBIFRANCE, attached to the Embassy of France in Egypt. It will witness a high turn-up of French companies that will display their products and know-how, present their achievements and developments in the ICT sector, and seize this world class opportunity to promote their new technologies and services to a broad spectrum of visitors expected from Egypt and the Middle-East region. 2011, a year after the global crisis started receding, the world promises higher hopes for revival and Cairo ICT promises more professional networking and face-to-face contacts and business deals. The event in its 15th round is marked by a different theme of networking opportunities. It witnesses a strong Egyptian presence as well as strong African and Arab participation. The forum this year encompasses significantly important sessions. Today, a session tackling the African co-operation aspects and the potential to be discovered in the African continent will be held. This session is entitled “Unleashing the Potential of Africa through Building the Human Capacity”. This session's moderator is Yasser El-Kady, CEO of ITIDA. The session includes a number of prominent speakers, such as the Egyptian minister of ICT, Magued Osman, as well as his counterparts from Ethiopia, DRC and a group of representatives of the private sector. The session comes within the context of the new political scene in Africa where new countries are born, old regimes dies and new ones are born leading Africa in the forefront of their priorities. African countries have challenges to overcome, but co-operating together will bring more opportunities and open new horizons to develop different fields. Taking place side-by-side with Cairo ICT – where telecom, IT and Satellite technology providers have been gathering in the past 15 years – the second Media and Entertainment Trends fair and forum for the Middle East and Africa 'Cairo MET' will cover the entire scope of media and entertainment.
