CAIRO - The 15th edition of Cairo ICT exhibition, one of the leading events and ideal platforms to exchange expertise and proficiency in Communication and Information Technologies, is due to take place from February 20 to 23, 2011 at Cairo International Conference Centre, hosting France as guest of honour. The French pavilion will be organised by the Mission économique- UBIFRANCE, attached to the Embassy of France in Egypt. It will witness a high turn-up of French companies that will display their products and know-how, present their achievements and developments in the ICT sector, and seizethis world class opportunity to promote their new technologies and services to a broad spectrum of visitors expected from Egypt and the Middle East. The main task of UBIFRANCE, the French Agency for international business development, is to help and assist small and medium size French enterprises (SMEs) in their efforts to export and settle in international markets. The Cairo office is composed of 13 bicultural experts, led by Counselor Dominique Mauppin. It covers various sectors of the economy and implements the policy and goals of UBIFRANCE in Egypt. Ossama Kamal, Managing Director of “Trade Fairs International”, organiser of the exhibition and conference says: “February 2011 will mark 15 years since the launch of the exhibition and conference, which makes us the largest and oldest fair in Africa, and part of our celebration was choosing France as guest of honour for this special round. A decision we made long ago and are happy about it”. “Anyone who witnessed the evolution of the telecommunications industry in Egypt and the continent of Africa knows well the significant role played by the French government and French companies in the establishment and development of infrastructure, upon which most of the continent depends on," Kamal added. Using the first mobile network as an example, Kamal said: “France Telecom, through its global wing “Orange”, established the first mobile phone network in Egypt, and “Alcatel” played a big role in most sectors of the Internet in Egypt, not to mention the dozens of French companies which contributed to the development of transportation technologies, communications, electronics and information in this country”.
