Löw to stay as Germany coach until 2018

The DFB has confirmed the World Cup-winning manager will try to defend the title in Russia after losing in the Euro 2016 semifinal against hosts France. Löw: "I see great potential in this team."
The German Football Federation (DFB) has confirmed that Joachim Löw will stay as Germany coach until 2018, leading "die Mannschaft" into the World Cup in Russia. Löw has held the job since 2006.
"We were disappointed to lose in the Euro 2016 semifinal, but our performance did not disappoint," said Löw, noting that the German national team was the youngest of the entire tournament. "I see great potential in this team."
Löw was non-commital on his future immediately after the France defeat but has decided to honr his deal until the World Cup.
DFB President Reinhard Grindel said that Löw is the best man for the job after his 2014 World Cup triumph.
"He has our full confidence and we are sure the national team will be successful under his guidance in the future," said Grindel.
Löw and his staff will now take a break, after which they will analyze the team's performance during the Euros, just before they start preparing the squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, that will kick off against Norway on September 4.
