33 killed after 2 tourist buses collide in Sinai

A total of 33 people were killed and 41 were injured when two tourist buses collided near Sharm El-Sheikh at dawn on Friday.
State-run MENA news agency reported that one of the tourist buses was heading to Sharm El-Sheikh and the other was travelling to Cairo when they collided. The accident occurred about 50kms from Sharm El-Sheikh in south Sinai.
The injured include a Ukrainian, a Yemeni and two Saudis, whose injuries were not serious. They and 10 other injured people have been taken to the Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital for treatment.
A team from the prosecution went to the crash site to look into the reason behind the crash.
Road safety in Egypt is of great concern. According to a report released in June, 15,578 car accidents took place in Egypt in 2013, with a daily death rate of 18.4 people killed every day.
The report cited "human element" as the biggest reason behind car accidents, causing over two thirds of all accidents.
