KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia court in Sungai Petani has charged an unemployed man with the murder of a businesswoman in the city on June 19. The Bernama news agency reported that Thines Sathasiwam, 22, of Taman Sinar Mentari, Sungai Lalang here, “was accused of murdering wedding boutique owner, Revathy Mariemuthoo, 23, at 11.30 pm on June 19 at an oil palm plantation in Jalan Mahkamah, Amanjaya here.” He now faces the death penalty if convicted, as charged under Section 302 of Malaysia's Penal Code. It is not clear, however, what the man will plead. Malaysian courts are more lenient if the accused pleads guilty to the charges and could get a reduced sentence. The next court case is scheduled for July 29, the news agency said. The court is also awaiting the autopsy report. The owner of the Rakshata Bridal House in Taman Ria was found dead by members of the public in a drain near the Sungai Petani Court Complex on June 20.
