Baghdad (dpa) – Two Iraqi soldiers were killed Wednesday by gunmen north of the capital Baghdad, security sources said. The soldiers were killed in a village in the province of Mosul, some 400 kilometers north of Baghdad, added the sources. A third soldier was killed and three others injured when gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in the town of Samara, 120 kilometers north of Baghdad, police officials said. Iraqis are worried that armed groups may increase their attacks after US troops withdrew from the country last month, ending nearly nine years of military involvement.
