CAPMAS: 14.4% Rise In Number Of Arrival Tourists Last August

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued the monthly bulletin for tourism August 2012. The number of arrival tourists from all over the world reached one million tourists in August, compared to 907 thousand tourists at the same period, 2012; increased by 14.4%. This rise is due to the decline that happened last year because the incidents of the Egyptian revolution.
The bulletin elaborated that Western Europe is the most flooded area in number of tourists, followed by Eastern Europe and then the Middle East at the same period.
The number of touristic nights that had been spent by the tourists reached 12 million nights in August 2012, versus 10.9 million nights in August 2011, rose 10.1%; while in August 2010 that touristic nights amounted to 16 million ones.
Number of arrival tourists from Arab countries reached 216 thousand tourists in August 2012, compared to 130 thousand tourists in August 2011, increased by 66%; meanwhile 155 thousand tourists came to Egypt in August 2010.
The number of touristic nights that Arab tourists had spent reached 2.8 million nights in August 2012, compared to 2.9 million nights in August 2011, slashed by 5.7%, while the touristic nights reached 4.4 million ones in August 2010.
