Attorney General Abdelmeguid Mahmoud referred the charges submitted by a number of lawyers against Sameh Ashour, the former-chairman of the Bar Association, on the financial irregularities which occurred during the Council, to the Public Funds Attorney General. An official source within the Office of the Attorney General told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the Public Funds will investigate the case. The financial irregularities were revealed by the reports of the Central Auditing Agency officials in the union, led by Sameh Ashour. Additional lawyers filed new charges yesterday to the Attorney General and a number of regulators against Ashour, demanding legal action be taken against him and an investigation into all allegations made by the report of the Central Auditing Agency, which Al-Masry Al-Youm published. On the level of investigations being conducted by a committee of the union in regards to the financial irregularities, Mohammad Ghafoor, a member of the Bar Council and the Chairman of the Committee, said that investigations into its staff were still ongoing along with contacting the lawyers who have received loans yet have failed to pay them back.
Abdulghaffar pointed out that those who did not receive loans, and are named in the papers, must submit proof of their settled the loan.
The first reaction by members of the union belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) during a meeting held by the Bureau with the presence of Ahmed Ezz with Deputy Hamdi Khalifa, yesterday. Mohamed Toson, the official in charge of the MB lawyers and a member of the Council, decided to hold a meeting in the office of Ahmed Seif al-Islam Hassan al-Banna, to discuss responses to the meeting of the national successive list and to exclude members of the MB from the Bureau.
