Lawyers File Report to Public Prosecutor to Investigate into Plunder of Public Fund in Bar Association
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 17 - 06 - 2009

A number of lawyers filed a report yesterday to the public prosecutor against the Bar Association's former chairman Sameh Ashour. The report focused on the Central Auditing Organization's (CAO) report on the Bar Association's irregularities in 2007. The CAO report has been recently published by Al-Masry Al-Youm.
More than thirty lawyers representing a number of bar associations, Lawyers against Corruption, and the report signatories, topped by Salim Abu Ghazala a former candidate in the association's recent election, gathered outside the public prosecutor's office and called on the public prosecutor to launch investigations into the association's irregularities.
The report, of which Al-Masry Al-Youm obtained a copy, said: "The Bar Association suffered through eight difficult years during which the public fund was wasted on illegal items," according to the CAO report.
"The Bar Association is the oldest and most important trade union. It was established to serve the public interest and help the masses of lawyers. Therefore, we call for launching investigations with the association's former chairman in order to protect the public fund and know the truth."
