Cairo - The Foreign Ministry, on Tuesday, asserted on its full respect to the sovereignty of the state of Sudan, saying it will not and had never participated in schemes plotting for destabilizing the Arab country. The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry made the remarks in a statement in response to accusations raised by Khartoum claiming Egypt backed Darfur rebel movements. Egypt's foreign policies are profoundly built on respect to the international laws and good neighborhood policy especially when it comes to countries that have brotherly relationships with Egypt, the spokesman made it clear. "Everyone knows very well that Egypt was the prime supporter of the unity of Sudan – in the north and south – and spared no effort to make unity as the first option for the people of Sudan before independence."
