Cairo - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and visiting Jordanian King Abdullah II met on Tuesday to discuss means of boosting strategic relations between their countries. The two leaders stressed the importance of supporting the Arab League with the aim of unifying Arab stances in the face of challenges, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef. They also discussed future steps that should be taken to end the stalemate in the Middle East peace process, especially after US President Donald Trump came to office, Youssef added. Figuring high at the talks were also regional issues of mutual concern, atop of which the Syrian crisis, he further said. Sisi and King Abdullah also voiced support for an Iraqi operation to liberate Mosul from Daesh terrorist group, the spokesman noted. Youssef added that the two leaders also discussed Egyptian efforts to unify Libyan parties and maintain the sovereignty of Libya. They agreed on the need for the world community to unite to counter terrorism and extremism through an integrated strategy that takes into consideration the military, cultural, economic and intellectual aspects, the spokesman said.
