Australia has designated the Egyptian Islamic State affiliate Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM) a.k.a. Wilayat Sinai as a terrorist organization, Australian NSNBC reported. The designation of the Egyptian Islamic State affiliate as a terrorist organization was published in a statement on Australia's national security website. In 2015 Australia imposed "economic sanctions" against the group. The statement also links Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis to Islamic State (a.k.a. ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) in Libya as well as to the Ezz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Palestine's Muslim Brotherhood affiliated Hamas.
