The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, continues to provide humanitarian aid for the relief of the Yemeni people and the reconstruction of the city of Aden, which has been affected as a result of the recent events in Yemen. The campaign is in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and with the follow up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent. In a statement, Dr. Muhammad Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, said that the number of families that have benefited from food parcels programmes had reached 11,379. In addition, the ERC delegation in Yemen has signed maintenance contracts for schools and supply of school equipment including tables, chairs, blackboards, computers, air conditioners and school lockers. The 54 completed schools will be furnished over the next two days in preparation for the reception of students in their new school year after Eid al-Adha. Al Falahi pointed out that the ERC's team has distributed 587 food baskets to families in different areas of Aden over the last three days.
