The United Nations has praised the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, in Yemen under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, saying that the ERC's relief activities are strongly evident and that it is one of the UN's most important humanitarian partners in the region. On behalf of the international organisation, Amer Daoudi, the UN Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Yemen Crisis, expressed his appreciation for the ERC's initiatives, which he said are helping to relieve the suffering and improve the lives of many affected people in Yemen, adding that he is following the UAE authority's efficient humanitarian efforts on the ground with admiration. These comments were made during a visit Mr. Daoudi and his accompanying delegation made today to the ERC, where he was received by Dr. Mohammad Atiq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed areas of coordination between both organisations and the possibility of strengthening partnership work to meet the many challenges facing people there, as well as expanding the scope of work to include a larger number of Yemeni governorates.
