The Egyptian army killed Monday three militants related to Wilayat Sinai terrorist group during a military raid witnessed in North Sinai's Sheikh Zuweid city, Al Bawaba News reported. Security source said that the army had launched several airstrikes by Apache aircrafts targeting terrorist hideouts in Sheikh Zuweid, killing eight three and wounding seven as well as arresting 13 others. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. In 2014, the group announced its allegiance to Islamic State (IS) jihadist group.
