AT LEAST 51 children died and 10 were seriously injured when a train collided with a school bus at a railway crossing in Manfalout, Assiut on Saturday. The accident has already led to the resignation of the Minister of Transport Mohamed Rashad El-Metini. The head of the Railway Authority, Mustafa Qenawi, has also submitted his resignation. Qenawi is expected to be questioned by investigators seeking to establish the cause of the tragedy. Egypt's rundown rail network has suffered from decades of underinvestment and mismanagement.
