The Death toll of Assiut's incident rose to 50 and injuries rose to 17, Egypt's Ministry of Health said in a statement. The victims are 47 children between 4 and 6 years old, the driver and 2 supervisors, the statement declared, adding that Injured were transferred to Assiut Public Hospital. Prime Minister Hisham Qandil, Interior Minister Ahmed Gamal El-Din and Health Minister Mohammed Mostafa Hamed are in their way to Assiut to investigate the accident and visit the injured children, according to official sources. A bus, which was taking 60 children on a trip organized by their nursery, was struck by a train on a railway crossing in Manfalut, 356 kilometres (220 miles) south of Cairo, a police official source said. Egypt's Transport Minister Rashad Al-Metini and the Head of the Egyptian Railway Authority Mostafa Qenawi resigned in the wake of the accident. President Mohamed Morsy has ordered the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Interior and Health and the Governor of Assiut to offer all the assistance to the families of the victims.
