Egypt fencing champion Alaaeldin Abouelkassem has accused the Egyptian Fencing Association (EFA) and the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) of a lack of support. The 2012 London Olympics silver medallist suffers from a chronic injury in his left shoulder, which he sustained while training two years before the championship but which became more serious due to continued strain. "This is beyond negligence. I was approved to receive my treatment abroad, but nobody from the EFA or the EOC followed up with me," the 21-year-old fencer told Ahram Online Wednesday. "There are lots of procedures I need to finish, including hospital reservations and visa procedures, but I have received nothing." Notably, Egyptian sports associations are currently busy preparing for board elections. The first Egyptian and African to win an Olympic fencing medal, Abouelkassem is currently preparing for the Fencing World Cup to be held next January in France. Egyptian wrestler Karam Gaber has also blasted the wrestling federation and Egypt's Olympic committee after winning the silver medal at the London Games, saying the LE1 million reward did not live up to his achievement. He also threatened to represent oil-rich Qatar at the 2016 London Games in Rio de Janeiro.
