Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi was granted on Wednesday the Arab Parliament's "Leader's Order", which is its highest honour, in appreciation for his "tireless efforts" reflected in Egypt's conscious and discreet policies in the service of Arab nations' issues.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady, the most recent of such efforts is reaching an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, which contributed to reducing human and material losses in the Gaza Strip.
Additionally, it is a commendation for the development and construction process that has been ongoing in Egypt in recent years, which has improved the standard of living and all aspects of life in the country, allowing Egypt to present to the world a successful Arab development model.
El-Sisi's honouring came during his meeting with Arab Parliament Speaker and Bahraini Parliament member Adel Al-Asoumi. Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Egypt's Parliament Speaker Hanafy Gebaly were also in presence.
During the meeting, El-Sisi asked Al-Asoumi to convey his greetings to his brother, the Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, as well as all members of the Arab Parliament, expressing his appreciation for granting him this prestigious medal.
El-Sisi also hailed the parliament's stances in supporting issues affecting Egyptian national security, expressing pride in its efforts as a platform for dialogue and democracy, and also as a popular impetus for the Arab action system, and an active partner in serving the higher interests of the Arab nation and strengthening ties between Arabs.
The president, moreover, stressed Egypt's support for the efforts of the Arab Parliament to achieve the goals entrusted to it, while looking forward to discussing prospects for strengthening cooperation with it to serve common Arab issues, Rady noted.
From his side, Al-Asoumi expressed his honour for meeting El-Sisi, praising Egypt's role under his leadership in maintaining Arab national security as well as advancing joint Arab action at various levels, including the Arab Parliament, against the background of Egypt's pioneering parliamentary experience and expertise.
This comes in addition to Egypt's hosting of the temporary headquarters of the Arab Parliament, which he said, "reflects the extent of belief in its effective role as one of the basic Arab mechanisms for communicating with peoples and taking effective positions in order to preserve the interests of Arab countries."
