Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 08 - 03 - 2018

CAIRO, March 8, 2018 - Egypt is keen on safeguarding the security and stability of Bahrain and the whole Arab Gulf region as the security and safety of the Gulf is part and parcel of Egypt's national security.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made the statement during a meeting he held yesterday with the Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Minister Al Khalifa conveyed to President Sisi a message from the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Eissa Al Khalifa, in which he confirmed the depth of relations between Cairo and Manama and looked forward to boosting them now and in the future, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said in a statement yesterday.
The Bahraini minister also stressed his country's willingness to hold consultations and coordinate action with Egypt regarding all regional and international issues of mutual concern in view of Egypt's pivotal role in achieving peace and security in the Middle East region.
The Bahraini minister of foreign affairs said that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports Egypt in its war against terrorism and stands beside it in confronting the challenges which endanger the security and stability of all the Arab states.
During the meeting, President Sisi praised the exemplary relations that bind Egypt and Bahrain in all fields, describing them as firm and deeply-rooted, Ambassador Radi said.
President Sisi underscored Egypt's keenness on sustaining efforts to develop and strengthen co-operation between Cairo and Manama in all domains in such a way as to serve the common interests of both peoples.
President Sisi and Bahraini Minister Al Khalifa discussed a number of regional issues of mutual interest, including boosting efforts to reach political and peaceful settlements to the crises which Arab countries are currently going through, the presidential spokesman added.
They also agreed to exert more efforts to preserve the unity of all the Arab states and to protect their territorial integrity.
Attending the meeting were Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, the acting director of Egypt's General Intelligence, and the Bahraini ambassador in Cairo.
