Freedom and Justice Party MP Mohamed El-Beltagy names some of the candidates nominated by his party for the constituent assembly tasked with drafting Egypt's new constitution, also names SCAF nominee According to Ikhwanweb, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Executive Bureau member and parliamentarian Mohamed El-Beltagy has said that 1000 people have been nominated for the constituent assembly responsible for drafting Egypt's new constitution. El-Beltagy stated that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) had nominated Assistant Secretary of Defence for Legal Affairs and SCAF member Major General Mamdouh Shahin. The FJP have nominated a list of names, which, according to El-Beltagy, represents all sectors of Egyptian society. The list includes Islamist thinkers Mohamed Emara and Nasr Farid Wassel, Coptic intellectuals Samir Morcos and Rafiq Habib, liberals Mohamed Abul-Ghar and Hazem Beblawi, left-wingers Abdel-Ghaffar Shukr and Ahmed El-Naggar. From the youth, El-Beltagy named Ahmed Harara, Moataz-Bellah Abdel-Fattah, Nader Bakkar and Egypt international football player Mohamed Abu-Treika. Saad El-Katatni, Essam El-Erian, Sayed Mustafa, Ashraf Thabit, Amr El-Shobki, Amr Hamzawy, Essam Sultan, Wahid Abdel-Meguid, Ziad Bahaaeddin, Ahmed Said and Margaret Azir are amongst the MPs nominated by the FJP. Women on the list include Mona Makram Ebeid, Huda Ghaneya and Nadia Mustafa. From the judiciary, El-Beltagy noted Hossam Ghariani and Mahmoud El-Khodeiri. From the art world, he mentioned Farouk Jweideh, Ashraf Abdel-Ghafour and Iman El-Bahr Darwish. El-Beltagy stated that in addition to the mentioned names, nominations would also include trade unionists, civil society workers and human rights activists.
