Nationalist gunmen kidnap five men in Pakistan Police says gunmen have abducted five men heading to work at a state-owned coal mine in Pakistan's south western Baluchistan province
Police official Lal Mohammad says gunmen riding in three cars had intercepted five men Sunday who were heading to the Sorange mine, located some 25 miles (40 kilometres) east of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province. Basham Baluch, a spokesman for the Baluch Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. He said the men were taken to force the government to stop mining. The Baluch Liberation Army is one of the main nationalist groups that has been waging an insurgency in Baluchistan for decades to demand a greater share in the area's natural resource wealth.
