An Egyptian court sentenced Saturday six defendants to three years in jail in the Al-Jazeera retrial case. Al-Jazeera journalist Mohamed Fadel Fahmy was among those sentenced to three years in prison. An additional six months was given to Al-Jazeera producer Baher Mohamed. Australian journalist Peter Greste was also sentenced to three years in prison. Two defendants were acquitted by the court. All defendants appeared on court today except for Peter Greste, who was deported under a recently enacted presidential decree that allows foreign detainees to continue their detention in their home countries.
