دبور زن على خراب عشه Dabbur zann ala kharab esshoh Translation: The buzzing of the wasp brought ruin to its nest Meaning: A certain individual does something that comes back to haunt them. Everything was going fine for that person until, like a wasp, he or she pushed their luck. It is used, therefore, in total lack of sympathy for the person involved, just as in English someone would say “he had it coming.” Source: Egyptian Proverbs, (Al-Ahram Center for Translation and Publishing, 1986) by Ahmed Taymour Pasha, Translated by: Nabil Shawkat http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/134941.aspx
