Two die from bird flu bringing Egypt's 2015 death toll to 10 Most cases of bird flu in Egypt have been found in rural areas where women often raise poultry in their homes
A 16-year-old girl in Egypt's Nile Delta governorate Sharqiya and a 33-year old woman in Cairo died late Tuesday from bird flu, the health ministry said; bringing the total deaths in 2015 from the H5n1 virus to ten. A two-year-old girl in Beheira governorate in the Nile Delta was cured from the virus, according to a health ministry statement. The statement also highlighted that 11 cases are currently being treated. Last year, 11 people died from bird flu. Most cases of bird flu in Egypt have been found in rural areas, where villagers, especially women, tend to raise poultry in their homes, increasing exposure to live or dead infected birds. The virus first appeared in Egypt in 2006. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/124417.aspx
