In its fourth edition this year, the Contemporary Dance Night took place in Cairo's Falaki theatre between 21 and 26 November and will now move to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, with shows set to be staged on 1 and 2 December. Founded in 2011 and organised by Ezzat Ezzat Contemporary Dance Studio, the independent dance event aims to bring this art genre closer to the viewer as well as explore and develop its definitions. Usually centred around the Egyptian artists, the organisers took an additional step this year, hosting three international artists from the UK, USA and the Netherlands. Workshops held during the Contemporary Dance Night aim to revisit the skills and further develop the young dancers. Read more about the contemporary dance scene in Egypt here.
