Six wounded in bomb attack on Egypt security vehicle in Sinai Six police officers injured Wednesday in a bomb attack on a security vehicle in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula
Six security personnel were injured in a bomb attack on Wednesday on a security vehicle in Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula, a security source told MENA. The bomb was remotely detonated in the attack on a vehicle carrying off-duty security personnel on leave while travelling on a freeway between the North Sinai towns of El-Arish and Rafah, the source said. Security forces were combing the area in search for perpetrators. Egypthas been hit by an upsurge in militant attacks by Sinai-based fighters since the army ousted elected Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last summer following mass protests against him. Militant violence has mainly targeted police and troops but has also led to civilian casualties. Several radical groups have claimed responsibility for many of the attacks which they say are carried out in retaliation for the killing and arrest of Isalmists in a state crackdown following Morsi's ouster. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/108925.aspx
