Ahly's Farouk fit, Soliman doubtful for Nkana clash Mohamed Farouk has recovered from a calf injury while winger Walid Soliman will undergo tests to determine his playing chances
Ahly's freshly-signed forward Mohamed Farouk has been declared fit to take part in the Confederation Cup last-eight clash with Zambia's Nkana, the Reds' website said. After being initially doubtful for the away tie due to a calf problem, Farouk – signed from Arab Contractors this summer – is now ready to feature for his second Ahly match. Farouk, who was thought to have been on the radar of Swiss side Basel during his Contractors' stint, managed to make an impact in his Ahly debut, scoring the penalty that won the game against Sewe Sport a fortnight ago. "Farouk's condition is getting better every day; he will be able to play against Nkana," Ahly doctor Ihab Aly told the club's official website. Meanwhile, winger Walid Soliman – who missed long spells of the season due to injury –remains a major doubt for the penultimate group stage match in Kitwe, as he is yet to undergo scans to determine whether he will be able to feature against the Zambian champions. "Walid Soliman is still undergoing individual training. He will be sent for scans to determine his playing chances," Aly said. Group B leaders Ahly, who exited the Champions League last-16 to Libya's Ahly Benghaz last springi, only need a draw at Nkana to secure a semi-final spot as they eye their first-ever Confederation Cup trophy.
