Soliman, Farouk in Ahly's squad for Zambia trip Ahly's technical staff hope both Walid Soliman and Mohamed Farouk are available for Saturday's clash against Zambia's Nkana
Ahly's Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido has announced his 18-man squad for the trip to Zambia where the Red Devils will be facing Nkana in the African Confederation Cup. Champions League titleholders Ahly will visit the Zambian champions, who boosted their hopes of a semi-final berth after edging out Etoile 4-3 at home, in the penultimate round of the tournament's group stage on 9 August. Despite suffering from minor injuries, playmaker Walid Soliman and striker Mohamed Farouk were included in the list amid intensive a rehabilitation programme to prepare them for the game. Nkana, who were defeated by Zamalek in the Champions League last-16, are currently third in Group B with four points, four adrift of leaders Ahly who will only need a draw in Kitwe to go through. Ahly have already defeated Nkana in the group stage opener, cruising to a 2-0 home victory back in May. Eight-time African champions Ahly, who were also ousted from the Champions League last-16 by Libya's Ahly Benghazi, are seeking their first-ever Confederation Cup title.
