CAIRO: The Egyptian parliament witnessed a rare event, the first of its kind, when a husband and wife both won parliamentary seats. The married couple, Khaled Hanafy and Omima Kamel, is both in the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP). Omima Kamel is the first women to enter the revolutionary parliament through the FJP lists. She got 59 percent of the fourth district electoral votes. Her husband Khaled Hanafy also won during the runoffs in Dar el-Salam electoral district.
