CAIRO: Clashes between Egyptian Central Security Forces and demonstrators continue unabated as teargas volleys mar the demonstrators' effort to retake Tahrir Square. The CSF recently managed to nearly evacuate the Square and remaining demonstrators are scattered. Clashes migrated from the Square however onto the Qasr al-Nil Bridge where tear gas continues to push back demonstrators. Some CSF officers were attempting to persuade demonstrators to leave the Square, but they refused, reported Assistant Interior Minister for Security Sami Sedhom, who added that the Interior Ministry is still committed to holding parliamentary elections despite this unrest. The January 25 Channel also managed to capture some injuries suffered from tear gas. The Health Ministry reported 81 injuries from the clashes. “People with immoral behavior are trying to riot and spread chaos,” Sedhom told the January 25 Channel. “Those who are arrested will be investigated and prosecuted,” Sedhom continued. Demonstrators are once again headed toward the Square after being forcible removed, the Channel reported. The April 6 Youth Movement also announced its intention to visit the Square now to show solidarity with the demonstrators and condemn the violence.
