Armed men attacked a police transfer vehicle with heavy gunfire today in East Marsa Matrouh City. Four policemen, all from the transfer department in Matrouh City, were wounded in the attack. Some prisoners escaped in the attack, but the exact number of fugitives is still unknown. Police forces in the Matrouh governorate declared the highest state of emergency, and several patrols from the city were dispatched in a massive manhunt. Two wounded policemen were transferred to Raas Al-Hikma Hospital. One suffered a concussion and the other was shot in the right leg. The two other wounded police officers were transferred to a Matrouh public hospital.
