CAIRO: The Egyptian Society for the Aid of Children and Human Rights has launched an initiative called ‘Juvenile Delinquency: Between Reality and Expectations.' Funded by the Foundation for the Future of Jordan, the project will provide legal, psychological and social support and development programs for minors in conflict with the law or their families. This will happen through the establishment of a support unit consisting of a specialized contingent of 10 lawyers and 10 psychologists and social workers. They will wor on the rehabilitation and training of children in accordance with international agreements and the Egyptian children's rights laws. The society announced the launch of a legal hotline for children to receive complaints and provide support and advice. The society plans to hold three awareness seminars for minors in conflict with the law and their families. The meetings aim to education 250 children and their families on how to protect and raise them. Mahmoud al-Badawy, Arrotney General of the association and member of the Committee to Protect Children in Giza Governorate, said the project includes the preparation of a study showing the situation of minors and the most important violations and issues they face.
