Ahmed Hussein, a member of the Egyptian Doctor's Union, accused Minister of Health Ashraf Hatem of harassing doctors who took part the past week's doctor's strike. Hussein says the minister ordered the spread of pamphlets that cite Article 124 of the new criminal law, which punishes employees for neglecting their duties. The pamphlet was sent to all bodies pertaining to the Ministry of Health in all Egyptian governorates. The pamphlet was offensive to doctors and showed traits of the oppressive regime that was overthrown by the January 25 Revolution, said Dr. Hussein in the report he filed at the Attorney General's office. The report also shows how the director of Tahta Hospital in Sohag used the hospital's public address system to threaten doctors from striking in the public clinic. If doctors continued to strike he said he would report them to the public prosecutor and have him or her file a false report saying the doctors had refused to help patients.
