Ahli striker Al-Sayed Hamdi should be fit for the Club World Cup opening game on Sunday despite sustaining a head injury in a friendly. Hamdi, who was key in helping his side secure the CAF Champions League title and qualify for the World Cup, limped off the pitch in the first half of a 4-0 friendly win over an amateur Japanese side. Ahli doctor Ihab Ali, however, played down the problem stating that it will not prevent Hamdi from featuring in the opener. “Hamdi's injury is not serious at all; he is ready to play in the World Cup opener," Ali told FilGoal.com “It's just a minor head injury that will not even require stitches." Ahli, whose biggest feat was claiming the World Cup's bronze medal in 2006, make their fourth appearance as they take on the winner from the match between Auckland City and Hiroshima Sanfrecce.
