Ahmed Hassan is on the verge of leaving Zamalek for Belgium's Lierse amid the uncertain future of football in Egypt. The Egypt captain, who will run out of contract next summer, revealed that he will request leaving after the Champions League game with Mazembe. “I think it will be better for me and for Zamalek if I left the club," Hassan told Modern Sport TV. “Mr. Maged Sami, the chairman of Lierse, is my friend and he usually asks me if I would like to play for his club. “I think at Lierse it would be more stable for me, I would be playing better football. No one is certain about the future of football in Egypt and that's the reason behind my desire to leave. “I also haven't been paid for 14 months and even so I have never asked for money. “I just want to leave by mutual consent and I will meet with club officials after the Mazembe game." Hassan, 36, joined Zamalek on a free transfer from Ahli last summer. Zamalek have been struggling with severe internal problems of late, mainly due to the lack of funds inside the club. Another star who is on brink of leaving is Amr Zaki, who is hopeful he can seal a move to Turkey's Gazientepspor this summer.
