Former Zamalek striker Mido launched a scathing attack on manager Hassan Shehata following the latter's departure from the club, describing the Master's tenure as an utter failure. Shehata, who replaced Hossam Hassan a year ago, parted ways with Zamalek on Thursday following a poor run of results that saw them languish at the bottom of Champions League group. “On paper, Shehata failed in his mission in comparison to – former boss – Hossam Hassan," Barnsley's Mido, who was released by Zamalek upon the request of Shehata, told FilGoal.com. “He failed to win the Egypt Cup title at home against an average team – with all due respect – as ENPPI and the result was the loss of a trophy the fans had been dreaming of. “The team was reeling in the league and the results weren't consistent. He was lucky to have the competition called off or else results would have deteriorated and he wouldn't have continued till now. “He was embroiled in continuous problems with players and was the reason behind many setbacks despite being provided with anything he requested. “On the other hand, Hossam Hassan made a good accomplishment with Zamalek, lifting the team from 13th place to finish as runners-up after vying for the league title till the final weeks. “I would like to stress that Hossam Hassan's achievements came despite not being provided by tenth of the resources Shehata was given." It is understood that Mido had a frosty relationship with Shehata since their infamous touchline row in the 2006 African Cup of Nations on home soil. The 29-year-old started one game under Shehata's management during his recent Zamalek stint, which was riddled by a series of injury and fitness problems.
