Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan voiced his discontent with the decision to call off the 2011-2012 Egypt Cup. The FA announced that - upon the orders of the Ministry of Interior - cup matches cannot take place due to the latter's inability to secure major sports events in the midst of the upcoming presidential elections. “Before making such a decision, attention should have been given to lower division sides and other teams not competing in African competitions,” Hassan told FilGoal.com. “Ahli, Zamalek and ENPPI players will not be affected much; at least they will have their jobs safe unlike players of other clubs who rely on football for a living, they would be virtually jobless. “In my opinion, the decision is wrong; the EFA should have paid attention beforehand to these teams.” Authorities have been reluctant to stage any competitive event in the wake of the infamous Port-Said catastrophe as Ahli, Zamalek and ENPPI were forced to hold their continental fixtures behind closed doors. Cairo giants Ahli and Zamalek are currently playing in the CAF Champions League as ENPPI compete in the Confederation Cup.
